Christian Aid

Christian Aid exists to expose the scandal of poverty, to help in practical ways to root it out from the world, and to challenge and change the systems which favour the rich and powerful over the poor and marginalised. Christian Aid does this by raising money in the UK and Ireland which goes to support 716 local partner organisations in the poorest communities around the world.

These organisations work on important issues such as providing shelters for battered women in Iraq, helping people earn a better living from farming their land in Bangladesh, and getting emergency relief to Afghan villages so families don't have to sell their daughters in marriage to survive drought. Christian Aid also campaigns and lobbies the UK Government on important issues facing developing countries, such as climate change and trade. See www.christianaid.org.uk for more info.
